ASUU offers replace on reopening of Universities

The Tutorial Employees Union of Universities (ASUU) has mentioned universities within the nation is not going to reopen till the Federal Authorities honours the settlement it struck with the union.

ASUU Nationwide President, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, said this whereas talking at a city corridor assembly on the African Corridor, the College of Ilorin.

Ogunyemi insisted that the settlement have to be honoured, earlier than the federal authorities makes any announcement on reopening of universities.

He made it clear that ASUU would unfold its subsequent agenda, if the federal government refuses to barter the 2009 settlement signed by each events.

“I believe it’s higher we wait. Once we get to that bridge, we are going to cross it.

“I can’t open our technique right here; no matter you do is about technique; let the federal government refuse to barter, we are going to unfold our technique then,” Ogunyemi mentioned.

In keeping with him, ASUU went on strike since March, due to the federal government’s insensitivity to school training within the nation.

Ogunyemi mentioned among the union’s calls for included funding of college training, which the federal government had reneged on within the final 10 years.

“There’s a deliberate try and kill college training within the nation. Some universities use stoves of their laboratories as an alternative of burners and buckets to fetch water to carry out experiments; it’s as dangerous as that,” he mentioned.
