Boko Haram: Military buries Col. Bako amid tears in Borno

Colonel Dahiru Chiroma Bako of the 25 taskforce Operation Lafiya Dole in Damboa has been buried on the Maimalari army cemetery in Maiduguri, Borno State.

The Military Colonel who was ambushed on Sunday by suspected Boko Haram militants on the outskirts of Wajiroko village, sustained severe accidents and went by means of surgical procedure on the 7 division army hospital however died yesterday night.

Chief of Military Employees, Lt Basic Tukur Yusuf Buratai who gave the quotation of the fallen hero described late Col. Bako as a fighter who gave every part for the unity and peace of the nation.

He stated Col. Bako was an officer and a gentleman and shall be missed by his comrades, household and associates, who will proceed to recollect him for the numerous heroic works at many battlefronts because the inception of battle within the northeast area.

He stated, “As we mourn and proceed to recollect him, we’re not going to depart his household and youngsters after this second. However the Military goes to take up the scholarship for the youngsters he left behind and can guarantee they’ve a very good life even after the demise of their father.”

Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum who was at Bako’s burial describes the late Colonel as a courageous officer.

He promised to assist Bako’s household with a money reward of Twenty-million naira (N20,000,000) and a home for the household.

The governor additionally prayed for the repose of his soul and for the household to bear the irreplaceable loss.
