BREAKING: Airport reopening: Unions shut down Arik Air operations

Aviation Unions, on Monday, shut down the operations of Arik Air for allegedly owing its workers.

The union claimed Arik Air has not paid its staff since April after putting 90 per cent of its workforce on obligatory depart and different anti-labour practices.

The unions included the Nationwide Union of Air Transport Staff (NUATE) and Air Transport Senior Employees Providers Affiliation of Nigeria (ATSSSAN).

NAN stories that each one Arik Air operations in Lagos State had been shut down.

Mr Harmless Atasie, Chairman, ATSSSAN, Arik Air Department instructed NAN that the employees resolved to close down Arik operations nationwide when all efforts made to resolve the issue failed.

Atasie stated that the unions had been miffed that there had been no cost of workers salaries since April after putting 90 per cent of the workforce on obligatory depart.
