Flood displaces 10,000 individuals, destroys 100,000 hectares of farmlands in Jigawa

Jigawa State Authorities has mentioned that flood has sacked over 10,000 individuals from their villages and destroyed 100,000 hectares of farmlands throughout the state.

Government Secretary, State Emergency Administration Company, Sani Yusuf Babura disclosed this in an unique interview with DAILY POST.

He mentioned the flood has displaced over 10,000 individuals from their villages in ten native authorities areas which can be alongside Hadejia river.

Babura defined that the flood has triggered critical hardship to individuals of the state which resulted within the loss of life of forty-one individuals and lack of property price billions of Naira.

“Forty-one individuals died from the flood. Thirty-three was because of buildings collapse attributable to heavy rainfall whereas eight drowned within the river.

“The flood was because of overflowing of river Hadejia the place it submerged 5 km farmlands from all sides of the river.

“It Began from Ringim Native Authorities and can finish at Guri then transfer to Yobe State.”

Babura mentioned Jigawa State authorities has established eighteen Internally Displaced Individuals camps on the principally affected areas to accommodate the affected victims.

He mentioned the victims had been supported with meals, mosquito nets, sleeping mats, medical companies and all different wants.
