Governor Ikpeazu denies asking resident docs to forfeit wage arrears

Abia State authorities has debunked reviews that it instructed medical docs to forfeit its wage arrears.

The Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, in a press release issued by the Commissioner for Data, John Okiyi Kalu on Sunday stated the report making the rounds was false.

The assertion urged Nigerians to ignore the reviews, noting that Governor Ikpeazu’s administration was decided to proceed to assist ailing state parastatals, pay staff repeatedly and clear due arrears.

“We want to state categorically that opposite to the claims by the Nationwide Affiliation of Resident Medical doctors (NARD), at no time did Governor Okezie Ikpeazu or Abia State Authorities ask resident docs or every other employee of the state to forfeit any wage arrears.

“The administration is decided to proceed to assist ailing state parastatals to pay staff repeatedly and clear due arrears as we now have been repeatedly paying state staff in our Ministries, Departments and Businesses (MDAs) with out owing any month in arrears.” the assertion added.
