Hoodlums beat policeman to loss of life in Ogun

The police in Ogun State stated it has in custody 4 suspects who reportedly beat a policeman to loss of life on Sunday.

The policeman, recognized as PC Agada Akoh, was stated to have been overwhelmed to coma by the hoodlums, who left him within the pool of his personal blood at Dalemo space of Sango-Ota.

The 4 suspects – Jelili Ismaila, 22; Amidu Bankole, 34; Elijah Samson, 36 and Moses Proboye, 34, had been all nabbed after data reached the police at Sango division at about 9:30pm {that a} policeman has been overwhelmed to coma by some hoodlums.

DAILY POST realized that the DPO of the police station, CSP Godwin Idehai, led his males to the scene the place he met the policeman already unconscious.

An announcement by Ogun Police Spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi, on Monday, has it that preliminary investigation revealed that the useless policeman and one different had escorted their principal from Idah in Kogi state to Lagos State.

Oyeyemi stated, “On their method passing via Sango Ota, a truck driver, Jelili Ismaila, drove dangerously and virtually pushed their car off the highway. Whereas attempting to not hit the car conveying the officers, the truck entered a pothole because of which its tyre bought punctured.”

This, he added, made the 2 policemen come down and cautioned the truck driver, asking him to be conscious of different highway customers.

Nevertheless, the Ogun PPRO knowledgeable that the motive force accused them of being at fault thereby “mobilising hoodlums to assault the officers and their principal with harmful weapons and beating the deceased to coma.”

Once they realised that the policeman could not survive the assault, the motive force and his employed hoodlums, Oyeyemi acknowledged, took to their heels.

However, the police stated, “luck ran out on 4 of them when the DPO and his males, on a tip-off, stormed their hideout and bought them arrested whereas the opposite 4 escaped.”

The stays of the officer, DAILY POST realized has been deposited on the Ota Basic Hospital mortuary.

In the meantime, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun, has described the incident as barbaric, saying it was an act of lawlessness.

Ajogun ordered {that a} huge manhunt be launched for the 4 fleeing suspects, warning that an unwarranted assault on his males is not going to be tolerated.

The CP has then directed that the arrested suspects be transferred to the murder part of the state CIID for in-depth investigations and prosecution.
