Kwara by-election: Tribunal sacks APC lawmaker

The Kwara State Home of Meeting Rerun Election Petition Tribunal, has nullified the victory of Adam Rufai, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) within the by-election for Patigi Constituency.

The tribunal on Monday, subsequently declared Salihu Mohammed Gada of the Peoples Democratic Social gathering (PDP) winner of the election held on March 14, 2020.

The seat grew to become vacant when Rufai’s brother, Saidu Ahmed, handed away in December 2019 after a quick sickness.

A former senate president and ex-Governor of Kwara State, Bukola Saraki, has congratulated Yahaya over the judgment.

Saraki tweeted, “An enormous congrats to the candidate of our get together @OfficialPDPNig for the State Meeting by-election held in Patigi, Kwara State on 14th March, 2020.

“Hon. Salihu Muhammad Yahaya has simply been declared the winner by a tribunal.
