Police, vigilante group arrest three bandits in Oyo

A mixed staff of policemen and members of vigilante teams have arrested three suspected bandits of their hideout in a forest on the Igbeti-Kishi space of Oyo State.

That is contained in an announcement issued on Tuesday in Ibadan by the Police Public Relations Officer within the state (PPRO), SP Olugbenga Fadeyi.

Fadeyi stated the joint safety staff engaged the daredevil bandits in a shootout at their hideout on Sunday at about 7.00 pm and arrested three, whereas some escaped with bullet wounds.

The PPRO additionally stated that 4 AK 47 rifles had been recovered with 5 magazines and 67 rounds of dwell ammunition.

“On 20/09/20 at about 7 pm, a mixed staff of the police and vigilante teams encountered daredevil bandits within the forest alongside Igbeti Kisi space within the hideout of the bandits, and three suspects had been arrested whereas some escaped with bullet wounds.

“4 AK 47 rifles with 5 magazines and 67 rounds of dwell ammunition, N78,000, 4 handsets and various charms had been recovered.

“Additionally, one AK49 rifle was recovered with 16 dwell ammunition by the joint safety brokers and vigilantes.

“Efforts have been intensified to arrest the fleeing suspects with wounds whereas the case has been transferred to the Particular Anti-Theft Squad (SARS) for investigation,” Fadeyi stated.
